IBM Cloud is a suite of business cloud computing services offered by IBM. [1] It combines platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). The platform expands and supports both small development teams and organizations and large enterprise companies. It is deployed globally across data centers around the world. [2] IBM's main competitors in the cloud computing market are Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
June 2013 - IBM acquires SoftLayer, a public cloud platform, to serve as the basis for its IaaS offering.
July 2014 - IBM introduces Bluemix Platform-as a-Service (PaaS).
October 2016 - IBM introduced the SoftLayer brand under its Bluemix brand for PaaS offerings.
October 2017 - IBM consolidates its entire cloud services portfolio under the name IBM Cloud.
